Message from the Treasurer

Dear Friends,

Today or tomorrow you should receive a 2008 year-end giving statement if you pledged any amount to the Operating Account for 2008 or if you did not pledge but gave $250 or more during the year. The statement also includes any amount you have pledged and/or given to the Cornerstone Capital Fund Raising account at any time since the Cornerstone Campaign began. The rather confusing column titled, "amount given," should state "amount given in 2008."

Thanks to all for your generosity during difficult times. The amount given to the Operating Account is 88% of the amount pledged (average for The Episcopal Church nationwide is ~94%).

Some of you who have not quite met the amount pledged may wish to contribute an additional amount which will show up on your tax statement as a deduction for 2008. I will hold our books open until 01/15/2009 for that purpose. Please back date your check to any day in December, 2008. As a point of information, we have received 74 pledges for 2009 totaling $153,972. This compares to 81 pledges for 2008 totaling $184,464 (a decrease of $30,492 for 2009.) Unfortunately, we will need to make some rather severe spending cuts for the coming year, and I will report further after the budget committee has finalized the budget for 2009.

Sincerely,
Bob Hogan, Treasurer, Episcopal Church of All Saints
