We Believe ...
Medicine Cabinet

This year we have been gaining momentum with the activities of the Medicine Cabinet. A self-guided walking program with a pedometer to track progress has been instituted to run through Epiphany and Lent. It has been well received by the congregation. We have been fine tuning our Angels on Wheels food delivery for sick or shut in congregants. Organization is further being instituted with regards to our volunteers who deliver the food and we’ll follow up to see how things are going with the recipient. Thanks to all who have contributed to our store of delicious food. We are looking at doing a Labyrinth project for spring or summer with teaching regarding walking meditation. We are also planning a 10 minute mini-presentation at coffee hour to present helpful Heath Hints once per month as our ongoing education offering. Many thanks to the Medicine Cabinet and all it's members for their creativity and willingness.

The Parish Nurse has office hours Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM for any needs or discussions parishioners may have. Many hospital, home and nursing home visits have been made by Ellen, funeral planning, participation in giving the funeral, delivery of food and taking Holy Communion to the sick and shut-in has increased in the number of visits this year.

The Parish Nurse has been planning educational offerings, reports, contact with the needy and coordinating with the clergy to be able to give the best care possible. We intend to increase out Lay Eucharistic Visitor (LEV) presence and training by this March and increase followup with our sick and shut-ins. An on call system is being worked on to make sure that weekends are covered for emergencies that occur after the office is closed.
