Altar Guild

The Altar Guild at All Saints Church, as in most Episcopal and Anglican parishes, is a group of women and men who, usually in teams of two, prepare the altar area and Church for Sunday morning Mass and other holy days.

Duties include: Before Mass on Sunday, setting out communion vessels: chalices, cruets of wine, water, the Eucharistic bread (which is baked by a parishioner), candles, etc. A sub-group of the altar guild takes turns washing and ironing the communion linens. The altar guild also changes the votive candles at the statue of St. Mary the Virgin as well as the hanging 7-day Blessed Sacrament Lamp which is suspended over the high altar.

At present there are five teams of altar guild members. We are fortunate to have one or two parishioners who are skilled with sewing and embroidering. One parish member embroiders crosses, etc, on the linens.

The Altar Guild is under the directorship of the Rector. For more information, please email the rector.
